Synopsis

It’s a hot summer day in The Orchards Gated Community, and there’s a drought going on. When the new neighbors see fifteen-year-old Zane’s little sister naked, he can’t help taking advantage, making up a lie so good that it convinces fourteen-year-old Maisy’s mom to keep her naked for the summer. And that’s just the beginning as the president of the HOA wants to use the lie for her own benefit.

Big thanks to Hooked6, who’s story "They Do Things Differently" was a huge inspiration for this.

Chapter 1

It had been a long journey for Maisy, her mom, and her brother, but they were finally arriving at their new home situated in The Orchards Gated Community. The three had left their small apartment in the city behind in favor of what her mom called "a fresh start." The name itself, "The Orchards," suggested rolling hills and fruit trees, which couldn't be further from the cul-de-sacs of identical beige houses with pristine lawns they found themselves in.

"It's... a blank slate," Their mom had said, forcing brightness into her voice as they'd pulled up. The house was a pale cream, like a slice of unbaked bread, with a front door painted an alarming shade of blue.

Maisy's brother Howie, who had been almost entirely silent during the three-hour drive, now stood beside her on the lawn. At ten, he was a solid, dependable presence, a stark contrast to the gangly uncertainty fourteen-year-old Maisy felt in her own skin. He kicked at a stray clump of grass. "Looks like a catalogue," he muttered, his assessment surprisingly sharp.

Carol-Anne, their mother, shot him a look that was half-exasperation, half-agreement. "It's new, it's safe, and it's ours. Let's try to be positive." She put a hand on each of their shoulders, her fingers digging in just a little too hard, a familiar sign of her own anxiety. "Now, the moving van isn't here for another hour. Why don't we go introduce ourselves to the neighbors? It's the polite thing to do."

She steered them across the manicured strip of grass that separated their yard from the next. A garage door was open, and inside, two boys looking to be around Maisy's age were hunched over a bicycle. One had a shock of brown hair and a grease smudge on his cheek; the other was blond and lanky. They both looked up with the wary curiosity of wild animals.

"Hello there!" Carol-Anne chirped, her voice an octave higher than usual. "We're your new next-door neighbors! I'm Carol-Anne May, and this is Maisy and Howard. Howard prefers Howie."

The blond-haired boy stood up straighter, wiping his hands on a rag. "Hey. I'm Zane. This is my friend, Mack. We're just working on my bike."

"So I see!" Carol-Anne said, as if he'd revealed a fascinating secret. "What a wonderful way to spend the day. So productive. It's great to meet you. We're just... getting settled in."

Maisy stood behind her mother, wishing she could melt into the sidewalk. She felt the boys' gazes flick over her, a quick, interesting scan that left her feeling hot and itchy. The way teenage boys had started to look at her over the last several months was a new and unwelcome sensation.

It was at that moment that the garage door behind the boys swung open. A girl, a few years younger than Maisy, with the same honey-blonde hair as Zane, bounced out. She was completely naked. Not in a swimsuit, not in a towel. Naked. The sun gleamed on her tanned, unselfconscious skin.

"Hey, Zane," she said, her voice carrying a cheerful, melodic lilt. "Have you seen Buster? Mom thinks he got out again." She looked at the small group gathered on the driveway and blinked, her expression not changing in the slightest. "Oh, hello," she added, as if she were wearing her Sunday best.

The silence was thick and suffocating. Carol-Anne's smile froze on her face, a rictus of pure, unadulterated shock. Howie's mouth was a perfect 'O' of surprise. Maisy felt her own face burn with a mortified blush that she knew must be visible from space.

Zane, however, just rolled his eyes, a picture of teenage annoyance. "Elli, for God's sake…” He paused, noticing the embarrassment of the new neighbor girl. “He's probably out back again."

"Oh, right. Thanks." And with that, Elli spun on her heel and trotted back into the house, her bare feet padding silently across the cool concrete of the garage floor, leaving the door to shut behind her.

Carol-Anne cleared her throat, the sound like a gunshot in the quiet. "Well," she managed, her voice strangled. "It's, uh... been a pleasure to meet you both. We should..."

"Why was she naked???" Howie cut off his mom, his whisper a loud hiss.

Zane just shrugged, a lazy, unconcerned gesture. "Right. You're new here and don't know about the water regulations," he said, looking them over with a knowing, almost pitying expression. "Didn't your realtor explain it?"

Carol-Anne looked bewildered. "The... what?"

"The water regulations," Zane repeated slowly, as if speaking to a child. "The drought. The home owner's association's got all these strict, crazy rules in place to conserve water. One of the big ones is laundry. Girls' clothes apparently use up way more water to wash, what with all the, y'know... different fabrics and stuff. And how often girls go through clothes. So they passed this new thing to get the mandatory water consumption down."

He paused, letting the absurdity of his statement hang in the humid air. Maisy could see her mother's mind racing, trying to process this information, to fit it into the neat, ordered world she was trying to build for them.

"So," Zane concluded with a casual wave of his hand, "from June to September, it's a rule. All the girls in the community; teenagers, little kids, whatever; go naked. It saves a ton of water. Nobody really minds. It's not a big deal once you get used to it. And it’s good for the environment."

Maisy's jaw was practically on the floor. Beside her, Howie looked like his brain was short-circuiting. And their mother... their mother was actually nodding.

"Oh," Carol-Anne said, her voice a little breathless. "A... a community-wide initiative. For conservation. How... forward-thinking. That makes... sense, I suppose. It's very... progressive."

Mack, on the other hand, was looking at his friend like he had grown a second head. "Zane, what are you?..."

Zane gave him a quick elbow before he could finish his sentence, grinning at Carol-Anne like a saint who had just explained the mysteries of the universe. "Yeah. You'll probably get a formal notice from the HOA in the next couple of days with all the details. Welcome to The Orchards."

Carol-Anne gave a jerky nod. "Thank you. Thank you for... clarifying. We'll just... let you get back to your bike." She turned, her movements stiff and robotic, and ushered Maisy and Howie back across the lawn.

With them gone, Mack was finally able to complete his thought. "Are you insane? Why the heck would you tell that lady something like that? You're going to be in so much trouble with your mom, and so am I for not correcting you!"

"Relax, Mack," Zane said, waving off his concern. "Don't you want to see that girl naked? Marcy, whatever her name was?"

"Maisy. And how are we going to see her naked?"

Zane grinned, wide and wicked. "You think her mom is actually going to check with anyone at the HOA about this? You saw her. She hardly batted an eye when I told her. She's desperate to fit in. She'll believe me because she wants to believe me. She'll make her do it. Just watch."

Back in the shade of their own front porch, Carol-Anne leaned against the doorframe, staring at nothing while her kids watched her. "Well," she said finally, her voice hollow. "That was... unexpected. But he seemed so sure of himself. It must be a thing. A local thing. We don't want to cause any trouble right away."

She looked at Maisy, and for the first time, her eyes held a flicker of something Maisy couldn't quite place; was it relief? "I mean, it's for a good cause. Water conservation. And... It's only for the summer. We can be... flexible. Right, Maisy? We have to try to fit in."

Maisy just stared at her mother, the absurdity of the situation crashing over her in waves. Go naked? In this place?? With those boys next door??? She felt a hysterical bubble of laughter rise in her throat, but it came out as a terrified squeak. Her new life had just taken a turn she never could have predicted in a million years.

The moving van arrived an hour later, and the rest of the day dissolved into a blur of heavy lifting, cardboard boxes, and the screech of cutting packing tape. The absurd encounter with the neighbors was temporarily pushed to the back of Maisy's mind, replaced by the immediate, overwhelming task of transforming the hollow, echoing shell of a house into a home.

By the time the sun began to set, painting the sky in strokes of violent orange and bruised purple, the main floor was cluttered with furniture and half-unpacked boxes. Carol-Anne had managed to assemble the kitchen table and declared a victory, ordering pizza as a celebratory meal for their first night. The smell of grease and pepperoni filled the pristine, still-unfamiliar kitchen.

The three of them sat on folding chairs around the new table. Howie was swinging his legs, already on his third slice, his earlier shock seemingly forgotten. Carol-Anne picked at her crust, her gaze distant.

Maisy couldn't take it anymore. "Mom," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Are we... Are you really going to make me do what that boy said?"

Carol-Anne blinked, as if pulling herself from a deep thought. "Do what, honey?"

Maisy felt her face heat up again. "You know. The... the no clothes thing."

Her mother sighed, a long, weary sound that seemed to carry the weight of the entire move. "Oh, that." She took a sip of her ice water. "I thought about it, Maisy. And honestly... It's strange. It's very strange. But Zane seemed so matter-of-fact about it. And he's not wrong, you know. The drought is serious. I read the articles the HOA sent my email. And if this is their way of dealing with it... well, who are we to come in here and question their ways? We need to fit in."

"But, Mom," Maisy protested, her voice rising in pitch. "It's embarrassing! I can't just... walk around with nothing on! What about... everything?"

Carol-Anne held up a hand, her expression softening into what she probably thought was a reassuring look. "It's just for the summer, Maisy. And it's not like you have to go far. We'll be here, at the pool, the park nearby maybe. It'll be... freeing, in a way. A new experience. And all the other girls will be doing it. You won't be alone."

The thought of being naked at the community pool, surrounded by the judgmental eyes of people she didn't know, made Maisy's stomach clench. She looked to Howie for support, but he just shrugged, his mouth full of pizza. "I think it's weird," he mumbled, "but the girl next door didn't care."

"Exactly," Carol-Anne said, seizing on Howie's comment. "It's the new normal here. We just have to adapt."

The next morning, the reality of the situation came crashing down. Maisy woke up early, the unfamiliar room disorienting her for a moment. Sunlight streamed through the blinds she hadn't fully closed, striping the carpet on the floor. She remembered the conversation from the night before and pulled her comforter tighter around herself, a small fortress against the coming day.

She was in the middle of getting dressed, a simple pair of shorts and a t-shirt she'd dug out of a box, when her door swung open without a knock. Carol-Anne walked in, already dressed for work in a crisp blouse and slacks.

"Maisy, good, you're up." She held out a small plastic bag from the drugstore. "I got this for you. Sunscreen. SPF 50. You'll need to be diligent."

Maisy stared at the bag, then at her mother. "I was just getting dressed."

Carol-Anne gave her a small, tight smile. "I know, sweetie. But remember our talk? It's our first day in this new community. Let's start on the right foot. Take those off. Let's get you accustomed to it."

The command was so gentle, so reasonable, it took Maisy a second to process it. "You... you're serious? Right now?"

"The sooner you start, the easier it'll be," Carol-Anne said, her tone leaving no room for argument. She stepped closer and pulled the t-shirt gently over Maisy's head before she could stop her. Maisy, frozen in disbelief, stood there as her mother then hooked her thumbs into the waistband of her shorts and pulled them down, along with her panties, in one smooth motion.

"There," Carol-Anne said, standing back to admire her handiwork. "That's not so bad, is it? Now, let's get some of this lotion on you."

Maisy crossed her arms over her chest, a wave of humiliation washing over her. She had never felt so exposed in her life. "I'm not leaving this room," she mumbled.

"Maisy, I need you to babysit your brother while I'm at work," Carol-Anne reminded her, furrowing her brow in a stern look. "You can't do that from your bedroom. You can sit in the living room, read a book. Just... be present. And be a good example."

She uncapped the sunscreen and squirted a cold blob into her hand. Maisy flinched as her mother began to rub the white cream into her shoulders, her arms, and her stomach. It was impersonal, clinical, like she was applying lotion to a mannequin. When Carol-Anne's hands moved to her chest, rubbing the lotion over the mounds of her breasts, Maisy felt a new kind of panic.

"Mom, I'm not gonna go outside like this!" she said, her voice cracking.

"You might have to," Carol-Anne replied, her focus entirely on her task. "If Howie wants to go to play outside, you have to watch him. I don't want him getting into trouble on our first day here."

Her hands moved lower, to Maisy's stomach, and then, without hesitation, to the smooth skin between her legs. Maisy jumped back, her face burning. "Mom!"

"Hush, Maisy, I'm your mother. And you don't want to get a sunburn... down there, do you?" Her mother's tone was patient, as if explaining a simple concept to a toddler. She pulled Maisy closer and finished applying the lotion to her thighs, her calves, even her feet.

"There," she said, stepping back. "Now, follow me. I have a few things to explain to you before I go."

Maisy, feeling utterly defeated and ridiculously bare, trailed after her mother down the hall. Howie was in the living room, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a tablet, but he looked up as they entered. His eyes went wide for a second, then he quickly looked back at his screen, his cheeks turning pink.

Carol-Anne, ignoring her son's reaction, went to the front window and pulled open the blinds, flooding the room with bright morning light.

"MOM!" Maisy hissed, instinctively covering her chest and crotch with her hands.

"Stop that, Maisy," Carol-Anne scolded gently. "You're drawing more attention to yourself. Stand up straight. It's just a body." She pointed out the window. "Look, no one is even paying attention. It's fine." She glanced at her watch. "Now, I have to go. There's leftovers in the fridge for lunch. Maisy, you're in charge. Keep an eye on your brother. And remember, don't be afraid. You're beautiful, and this is just... a new rule. Okay?"

She gave Maisy a quick, awkward kiss on the forehead and headed for the door, but before she could open it, the doorbell rang. Maisy's heart stopped.

Carol-Anne, smiling brightly, opened the door to reveal Zane standing on the welcome mat. He was wearing a pair of shorts and a faded t-shirt, and he was holding a plastic container.

"Morning, Mrs. May!" he said cheerfully. "Mom made too many of these blueberry muffins and sent me over with a care package. Welcome to the neighborhood." He said, trying to crane his neck in a way to peek past her and into the house, without looking too suspicious. He saw a pair of bare legs standing in the living room and had a pretty good hunch about who they belonged to.

"Oh, Zane, how thoughtful!" Carol-Anne gushed, taking the container. "You're such a good boy. Thank you. Come on in for a second."

She stepped aside, and Zane walked in, his eyes immediately finding Maisy. A slow, triumphant grin spread across his face as he took in the sight of her standing in the middle of the living room, completely naked, her hands now clutching each other in front of her.

"MOM!" Maisy squealed again, ducking behind the couch, but not before Zane got a full, unobstructed view.

"Hey, Maisy," he said, his voice a low, satisfied drawl. "Looks like you got the memo."

Carol-Anne's jaw tightened, glaring at her daughter's foolish reaction, hissing through her teeth, "Maisy, get out from behind there, now!" She then turned to Zane, her smile strained. "I'm so sorry. We're still... adjusting. It's a big change."

Zane just shrugged, the picture of innocence. "No worries. It takes everyone a little time. Hey, my mom's gonna be heading to work soon too. If you guys want, Maisy and Howie can come hang out at our place. We've got a pool in the backyard. It might be easier for her to... get comfortable... around other people her age. Elli'll be there, so Howie'll have a friend too. We can all just hang out. No big deal."

Carol-Anne looked at him, her relief palpable. "Zane, that is the sweetest offer. You are just such a kind, welcoming young man. Maisy and Howie will be there. One hour. Thank you again for the muffins." She herded him back toward the door, her hand firmly on his shoulder.

Maisy remained hidden behind the couch, listening to the door close and her mother's heels clicking down the walkway. She waited until she heard the car start and pull out of the driveway before she finally stood up.

Howie looked over at her from his spot on the floor. He was still a little red, but he seemed to have recovered from the initial shock. "That was awkward," he said simply.

Maisy sank down onto the couch, pulling a throw pillow onto her lap. "Howie, I can't go over there. I can't let him see me like this again."

"Why not?" Howie asked, genuinely curious. "He's seen you now. And his little sister's gonna be naked too. And Zane said it was normal. It's just... a rule."

"It's not just a rule, Howie!" Maisy hissed, her voice low and urgent. "It's mean! It's embarrassing! It's... It's..." She couldn't find the words.

Howie just shrugged. "You don't have a choice, though. Mom said we have to go. And I wanna go swimming." He looked at her, his eyes clear and without judgment. "You just have to do it, Maisy. It'll be over before you know it."

Maisy looked at her little brother, her heart sinking. He was right. She didn't have a choice. Her mother had made that abundantly clear. And now, thanks to her gullibility and Zane's manipulative genius, she was about to spend an hour at the house of the boy who had tricked them all, with nothing on but a thin layer of sunscreen and a crushing wave of humiliation.

Over at Zane's house, he wanted to make sure everything was in place for the visit from the naked girl. The first thing he needed to do was make sure his little sister would be naked the entire time she was here. Without that, the whole ruse would fall apart. As he walked through the house, he found his sister in the kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal at the counter, wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

"Elli, how would you like to spend the day in the all together?" he asked her. She looked up from her cereal with the remnants of a cartoon playing on her face, having just finished a marathon of her favorite show.

"The what?" she asked, tilting her head.

"In the buff," he explained, with a smile. "Buck naked. Bare-assed."

She took a minute to figure out what he meant, and once she did, she shrugged her shoulders. "I don't care."

Elli had always been pretty laid back about her nakedness. The nine-year-old basically didn’t know the meaning of modesty. But then her eyes squinted, and she looked up at her older brother with a suspicious glint. "Why?"

"I was just thinking that it might be fun," he explained. "You know, a little game. Like we're nudists or something. It's a hot day, and you could give your clothes a break."

Her suspicious look did not fade. "What's in it for you?" she asked. He thought about telling her nothing, but he knew his little sister, and that would never fly.

"I'll give you my pudding cup from lunch," he bartered. Her eyes lit up.

"You're gonna need to offer way more than that. What else?"

He hesitated for a second. He thought about what else he might have to give her, and then remembered the new mature rated video game that he'd bought for his new console that their mom had said she wasn't supposed to play. "I'll let you play my new video game for an hour tonight," he offered, "if you promise to not tell Mom too."

She thought about it for another second, and then smiled. "Deal!"

"Okay, but don't get undressed until mom leaves. Got it? I don't want her getting suspicious."

She agreed, and once their mom left, she stripped off her clothes without a care in the world, tossing them into the corner of her bedroom. She ran into the living room where her brother was and did a couple of cartwheels on the floor, her tiny boob bumps jiggling with the movement, much to her brother's amusement.

"So, the girl from next door is coming over, and she's going to be naked too. I want you to hang out with her, and keep her company," Zane explained. "But don't tell her about our deal, okay?"

"Is that what this is all about? You wanna see the new girl naked?" Elli asked, still doing cartwheels. She didn't seem to care about her brother's intentions, which was good for him.

"That's none of your business. But if she asks, it's normal for girls to go naked around here during the summer. Got it?"

"Okay," she replied. He smiled. He had the perfect little accomplice.

When the doorbell rang, he was practically giddy with anticipation. He got up to answer the door and found Maisy and her brother standing on his front porch. His eyes instantly went to Maisy's chest, and he felt his dick stir in his shorts. He was finally getting a better look at her, even though she was doing everything in her power to keep her arms and hands in front of her bare privates. But he could see the sides of her boobs, and her arms weren't able to cover everything. He couldn't tell if she was clean-shaven down there, but he would find out soon enough.

He invited them in, and his little sister emerged from the back room, just as naked as Maisy was. Howie looked at Elli, then back at his sister. He decided to go with the flow, even if he didn't quite believe it.

"Hey guys," she said, not caring one bit that she was naked in front of these strangers. "You wanna go swimming?"

Maisy's face was so red, Zane thought she might pass out. "Um... I... I didn't bring a bathing suit," she managed to squeak out.

"What in the world would you need a bathing suit for?" Zane laughed. "I'm pretty sure the HOA would frown upon a girl wearing clothes at the pool."

Maisy looked like she was on the verge of tears. "I... I don't know if I can," she said, her voice barely audible. "It was bad enough walking over here..."

Zane wrapped his arm around Maisy's shoulder, like he was trying to comfort her, but the wolfish grin on his face said anything but. "You don't gotta worry 'bout that. We got a ten-foot-tall privacy fence around the backyard. No one will be able to see you but us."

His words did little to comfort her, but her little brother was already following Elli down the hallway to the backdoor. Maisy had no choice but to follow, and Zane followed right behind her, enjoying the way her tight little ass moved in front of him.

Elli and Howie were already at the edge of the pool by the time Maisy and Zane made it outside. Howie was quick to strip off his shirt, already coming prepared in his swim trunks. He jumped right in the pool, and Elli jumped in after him, a huge splash sending water everywhere. Maisy stood at the edge of the pool, still trying to cover herself.

"You gonna get in or what?" Zane asked her.

"I'm just... not used to this," she said, her eyes glued to the water.

"You don't know how to swim?" Zane asked, concern in his voice. She shook her head.

"No, I can swim," she said. "It's just... I've never been naked in front of a boy before."

Zane laughed and reached out, grabbing her hands to pull them away from her body. She tried to resist, but his grip was stronger than hers. He finally got her to let go of herself, and he looked at her with an approving look.

"Well, I've seen plenty of girls naked, living around here, but I gotta admit, you're one of the prettiest I've ever seen," he said, and it was the truth. Her body was incredible. Her tits were slightly larger than average for a girl her age, perfect shape and size for her frame he thought. They were capped with tiny little pink nipples that were rock hard, and he wanted to reach out and pinch them. Her body was smooth and toned, and he could see the muscles in her stomach flex as she tried to cover herself again.

He couldn't help taking a gander at what she had between her legs either, now that he had finally gotten her to stop covering herself up. She had a perfect little slit, smooth and hairless, with just a tiny tuft of pubic hair growing above. He wished he could see more, but he had a feeling he would get his chance.

"Thank you," she said, unsure if that was the right response. "I'm... I'm glad you think so."

Zane decided not to push her anymore for now, and he stepped past her, pulling his shirt over his head. Maisy's eyes went wide as she saw his bare chest, and she couldn't help but stare. He wasn't super muscular or anything, but he had a nice, lean build, with just the right amount of definition. She felt a stirring in her belly, and she didn't quite know what it meant.

Zane jumped into the water, sending a small splash towards her. She looked down at the water, still hesitant. She finally sat down on the edge, dangling her legs in the cool water. She took a deep breath, and then slowly slid into the pool, the water covering her naked body.

She felt instantly better, the water providing a much-needed barrier between her and the prying eyes of her new neighbor. She swam over to the shallow end where her brother was playing with Elli, and tried to focus on them instead of Zane. He was swimming laps, and she couldn't help but watch him, his body cutting through the water with ease.

After a few minutes, he swam over to her, stopping right in front of her. "You're a pretty good swimmer," she said, trying to make conversation.

"Thanks," he replied, moving closer to her.

Maisy could feel herself getting nervous again as he moved closer, and she tried to keep her distance. But he kept moving closer, until she was pressed up against the side of the pool, his body just inches away from hers. She could feel the heat radiating off of him, and she was suddenly very aware of how close they were.

"Zane... what are you doing?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Just getting a better look at you," he said, his eyes roaming over her body. "I don't know what it is about you, but I can't take my eyes off of you."

Maisy didn't know what to say. No boy had ever talked to her like this before, and she didn't know how to react. She felt a warmth spread between her legs, and she was suddenly very aware of her nakedness.

"I uh... I uh... Have to use the bathroom!" Maisy exclaimed as she pushed Zane aside and swam to the edge of the pool. She was pulling herself out of the pool, water dripping from her naked body, when the back gate opened. Mack walked in, a confused look on his face.

"Hey, Zane, you said you had something to show me?" he asked, before his eyes fell upon Maisy. He stopped dead in his tracks, his mouth agape.

"OH MY GOD!" Maisy screamed, trying to cover herself with her hands. She ran into the house, leaving a trail of wet footprints behind her. She slammed the bathroom door behind her and locked it, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..." she muttered to herself, her face burning with embarrassment. She had just been seen naked by another boy. She didn't know what to do, and she was too embarrassed to even think about leaving the bathroom.

Back at the pool, Mack turned to Zane, a huge grin on his face. "Dude, you are my hero. I can't believe it worked."

Chapter 2

Zane went to check on Maisy, and found her hiding in the bathroom. "Hey, it's okay, Maisy. Come back out. Mack's just my stupid friend. You shouldn't be embarrassed of him. He's probably more embarrassed of you."

"Why didn't you tell me he was coming?" she cried through the door. "I can't believe you just let him walk in like that!"

"Sorry, I forgot," Zane lied. "But seriously, he's a total pushover. He's not gonna say anything. Just come back out, and everything will be fine."

She eventually opened the door, her eyes red from crying. "I want to go home," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Come on, you can't go home yet. We were just starting to have fun," Zane said, reaching out to touch her arm. "I promise, it'll be fine. Besides, he's not going to be able to see you anyway. Have you seen those coke bottle glasses he wears? He can’t wear them in the pool." he laughed, trying to lighten the mood. It seemed to work, as Maisy cracked a small smile.

They walked back out to the pool, where Mack was hanging out with Howie and Elli. Mack had taken off his shirt and glasses, and was now in the pool with the kids. Maisy sat on the edge of the pool, still trying to cover herself, but not quite as frantically as before. Zane sat down next to her, his legs dangling in the water.

"You know, you don't have to cover yourself around me," he said, his voice low. "I like what I see."

Maisy blushed, but didn't say anything. She could feel the heat radiating off of Zane's body, and it was making her feel things she had never felt before. She had never been this close to a boy before, especially not while she was naked. She could feel her nipples hardening, and she hoped that Zane wouldn't notice.

But of course he did. "Are you cold?" he asked, reaching out to touch her arm. She shook her head, not trusting herself to speak. His hand moved up her arm, and she felt a jolt of electricity shoot through her body as he touched her shoulder. She could feel her breathing quicken.

Zane leaned in closer, his face just inches from hers. She could feel his warm breath on her skin, and she closed her eyes, waiting for what was to come. But just as she thought he was going to kiss her, he pulled away.

"You know, we should probably get something to eat," he said, standing up. "You hungry?"

She nodded, not sure what to say. She watched him walk away, her heart still pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe how close they had just been, and how disappointed she felt that he hadn't kissed her. She didn't understand her own feelings.

Zane gathered everyone, inviting them inside. "Who's hungry? I can make some grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm a pretty good cook if I do say so myself," he said, winking at Maisy. She couldn't help but smile, feeling a warmth spread through her body. She followed him inside, trying to ignore the way her body was reacting to him. She didn't know what was happening, but she liked it.

Mack, Elli, and Howie followed too, and they all gathered around the kitchen table. Maisy tried to sit down as modestly as she could, but she knew that both Zane and Mack could see everything. She tried not to think about it, and instead focused on the food. Zane made her a sandwich just the way she liked it, with extra cheese and the bread perfectly toasted. She couldn't believe how thoughtful he was being.

Just as they were halfway through their meal, Zane's dad came home for lunch. He walked into the kitchen, and stopped in his tracks when he saw Maisy sitting at the table, completely naked. "Uh... Zane, what's going on here?" he asked, his voice gruff.

Zane stood up, putting his hand on Maisy's shoulder. "Dad, this is our new neighbor, Maisy. She's staying with us for the day. Her mom had to work, and she wanted her to get to know some of the other kids in the neighborhood."

"I see. So why is she?..." his dad asked, his eyes darting between Maisy and his son.

Zane quickly rushed over to his dad before he could finish, wrapping his arm around his shoulder and leading him to the other side of the kitchen, out of earshot of Maisy and the others. "Dad, it's not what you think. Her mom is just one of those environmental freaks. She's got some weird thing about saving water, so she makes Maisy go naked over the summer so she doesn't have to do laundry. Maisy's a bit touchy about her mom making her do it, so don't ask her about it."

His dad looked over at Maisy, who was trying to act natural, but clearly uncomfortable. "Okay, but do you think it's a good idea for you to be hanging out with a naked girl all day? You know how your hormones get..."

"Dad, come on! I'm not that big of a pervert. You know I wouldn't do anything to her. I've been a perfect gentleman. Just ask her. Besides, Elli goes around naked half the time, and I've gotten used to it. Sure, Maisy's a hell of a lot prettier than Elli, but I think I'll be okay. We were just swimming and hanging out. Heck, when she's in the water, I can't even see her."

His dad looked over at Maisy again, and she gave him a nervous smile. He nodded his head. "Alright, just be careful. And keep your hands to yourself."

Zane promised he would, and his dad went into the pantry to find something to eat for his own lunch. When he came back out, he introduced himself to Maisy, who was still blushing from being seen naked by an adult, and an adult man at that. She didn't say much, but managed to get out a "nice to meet you" and a small smile.

After they finished eating, Zane wished his father well at work and showed him out. "Alright, dad, have fun with the computers at work or whatever you do. And don't forget to pick up dinner on your way home. You promised Mom you would."

As soon as his dad left, Zane picked up his phone to check on his text messages, finding one unread. He read a text from Taylor, a girl from his class who he often teased, and had a love-hate rivalry with. "Hey, butt head, did you forget about delivering the newsletters? My mom said she'd kick your ass if you don't get them done today."  He had completely forgotten about his promise to deliver the neighborhood newsletters for the Homeowner's Association, a punishment he had gotten after he had pulled a prank on the girls' soccer team.

During their practice, he had set off the lawn sprinklers, drenching all the girls, to get a show of their wet t-shirts. Unfortunately for him, Taylor was one of the girls on the soccer team, and she was not happy about her wet t-shirt being seen by all the boys. So she had complained to her mother, the president of the HOA, and Zane had been sentenced to deliver the weekly newsletter for the next 6 months.

"Shit! I forgot all about it," He texted back. "Look, something's come up here that you're not going to believe. I've got a naked girl over here. Can you bring the newsletters to me?"

"What, your perpetually naked sister?" Taylor texted back.

"No, the new girl who moved in next door. She's here, and she's completely naked, and she's the same age as us. I told her mom that the HOA makes girls go naked over the summer to save on water, and she actually believed me! It's so funny. You have to come over and see."

"Won't she expect me to be naked then too, dummy?" Taylor asked.

"Hell yes! I don't see the issue. Get your naked ass over here!" Zane couldn't help smirking at his phone as he sent back the idea.

"If you think I'm going naked in front of you, Zane!" Taylor replied, with a couple angry face emojis. He could feel her anger radiating over the phone.

"Ok, ok, cool it. I was just joking! Just come over. I'll come up with some excuse for why you're not naked." He could only imagine the look on Taylor's face as she read the text. He knew that she would be over soon, just to see what was going on.

Zane walked back over to the table, where Maisy was still sitting, looking like she wanted to disappear into the wooden chair. Mack had put his thick-framed glasses back on, and his eyes kept darting from his sandwich to her bare breasts, then quickly away, only to snap back again a second later. His mouth was slightly open, and he seemed to be having a hard time not staring, his neck craning at an awkward angle every time he thought no one was looking.

"Hey Mack," Zane said with a snicker, "So, I have to deliver those newsletter to every house in the neighborhood. You remember? Think you could help a friend out and do half? I'll give you half my weekly allowance..." He made a grin of a beggar and held his hands together.

"Uh... sure, I guess," Mack stammered, snapping his attention back to his friend. "But only for your whole allowance." He could tell that Zane was up to something, but he didn't know what. He just hoped it wouldn't get them in trouble. Again.

"You drive a hard bargain, man, but alright. You got it. You're a lifesaver," Zane responded, feeling relief. Before he could say anything more, the doorbell went off. "Oh, that'll be Taylor with the newsletters," he said, heading towards the door.

"Taylor? Another boy??" Maisy felt the hairs on the back of her neck starting to stand up again.

"No, no. Taylor's a girl. She's in our class. She's alright, I guess, even if she is the president of the Bitchy Brigade."

Maisy felt a sudden sense of relief. It was just another girl. At least it wouldn't be another boy to ogle her. Then it dawned on her that per the HOA rules, the other girl would be naked too. Finally, she wouldn't be alone. Elli was fine company, but she was still a little kid compared to her. Zane had just said this Taylor girl was a classmate of his. She'd be another teenager like her.

But when Zane opened the door, it didn't reveal another naked teenage girl, but a very well put together girl in a skimpy summer dress. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a smile that seemed to light up the room. Maisy felt her stomach drop, as she watched Taylor walk in and her eyes fall upon her naked body.

Taylor's eyes scanned Maisy's body from head to toe, a smirk forming on her lips. "Hello! You must be the new girl to the neighborhood. I'm Taylor Carlisle, cheerleader and Student Body Council Vice President at our high school. Welcome to The Orchards!" She held out her hand like a beauty pageant queen.

Maisy hesitated before taking it, her face turning bright red. She couldn't believe how confident Taylor was, how unbothered she was by the fact that Maisy was standing there completely naked. "Um... thanks. I'm Maisy May," she finally managed to say, shaking Taylor's hand. She felt so small and insignificant next to her.

"So, I see you got the memo about the HOA rule. It's very progressive and environmentally friendly, isn't it?" Taylor asked, a glint of mischief in her eye.

"Yeah, I guess. I'm still getting used to it," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She looked down at the floor, wishing she could disappear.

"Don't worry, Maisy, you'll get the hang of it. It's actually quite liberating once you get over the initial shock," Taylor said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"So, why aren't you... Following the rule?" Maisy asked, confused.

Zane, feeling the tension rising, quickly intervened. "Oh, she's got a skin condition. Can't you tell? Psoriasis. Doctor's note and all. She has an exemption," he said, wrapping an arm around Maisy's shoulder. “She’s gotta wear the same dress for at least a week, per the HOA rules.” Taylor shot him a look of daggers, but he ignored her. He knew she wouldn't out him in front of the new girl, because she was enjoying this just as much as he was.

Taylor played along. "Yeah, it's such a bummer. I wish I could be as free as you. But alas, I have to wear clothes," she said, sighing dramatically.

Maisy felt a little better knowing that she wasn't the only one who wasn't comfortable with the "rule." But she still couldn't help feeling self-conscious around Taylor, who seemed to have it all together. It didn't feel fair to her that Taylor got to wear clothes while she wasn't allowed to.

"How did you get your exemption? Can I get one too?" Maisy asked, a hint of hope in her voice.

Taylor looked at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry, honey, it's not that easy. You have to have a legitimate medical reason, and it has to be approved by the HOA board. I'm sure you can imagine how strict they are about these things," she said, trying to sound as sincere as possible.

"Oh, hey, Taylor," Mack said, coming in from the kitchen. "You bring the newsletters?" He had always had a crush on Taylor, but she had never given him the time of day. He still held out hope though.

"Hey, Mack. Yeah, they're right here. Don't tell me, Zane's roped you into doing his work for him," Taylor made an eye roll, knowing full well that Mack would do anything Zane asked of him.

"It's only half. And hey, he's paying me," Mack shrugged.

"I'll bet," Taylor said, handing Mack a stack of newsletters. "Just make sure you get them all delivered by 5 pm. Trust me, my mom will know if you don't."

"You take the West side, and I'll take the East," Zane told his friend as he headed out the door, waving goodbye to Mack as he shoved the newsletters into the basket on his bike and rode off.

Zane turned to Taylor, suddenly realizing that he was supposed to watch his sister while his parents were out, and he wouldn't be able to do that and deliver the newsletters at the same time. "Crap. I forgot that I have to watch Elli while my parents are working. I can't leave her here alone."

"Don't worry about it. I can watch her," Taylor volunteered. "I can keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't burn the house down."

Zane looked at Maisy, who was still standing awkwardly by the kitchen entrance, trying to cover her naked body with her arms. "You wanna go with me, Maisy? Get to know the neighborhood a bit?" he asked, trying to sound as casual as possible.

Maisy didn't really want to go with him, naked out in public, but she also didn't want to be left alone with Taylor, who seemed to be enjoying her embarrassment a little too much. She could see a glint of mischief in her blue eyes that made her feel uneasy. "Sure, why not," she said, trying to sound confident but failing miserably. "Taylor, can you keep an eye on Howie too?" she asked, looking over at her little brother. "That's my little brother."

"Of course," Taylor said, beaming a smile at Howie. "You guys go have fun. We'll be fine here." She waved them off, watching as Maisy hesitantly followed Zane out the door, still trying to cover herself as much as possible.

A creeping chill, entirely incongruent from the humid summer air, snaked up Maisy's spine as Zane's words finally settled. The agreement she'd just made, a pact to remain unclothed, exposed, under the open sky with him, landed in her stomach like a stone. Every unseen window in the surrounding buildings suddenly felt like a thousand unblinking eyes, and the prospect of their gazes, of unknown witnesses to her vulnerability, sent a wave of unwanted heat through her. The world seemed to tilt, the edges of her vision blurring as the full, crushing weight of what she'd consented to bore down upon her.
