The Spill

Chapter 1


Inspiration

It was another Saturday night. Sandy was at Amanda's house again. Just like most other Saturdays. They were in Amanda's room talking about what else? Boys. “I just want to see one of the boys naked, that's all! It's not like I'm asking them to do cartwheels or anything!” She and Sandra laugh. “You saw some penises on the computer” Sandra reminded her. “Yes, and that's great. It's awesome. I love the fact that we can get away with anything because were girls. My brother doesn't get to use a computer in his room because he's a boy and everyone knows boys are perverts. He'd probably be looking at naked girls. I get my own computer in my room. But looking at penises on the computer isn't the same as getting to see one in person. I want to see one in person. Someone we know.”

“Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah...” Sandra replied. “What does that mean?” Amanda asked, a little perturbed at the comment. “Every week, its the same thing. 'I wanna see a penis! I wanna see a penis!'” Sandra mimicked. “Keep your voice down, mom will think we're the perverts!” Amanda cautioned Sandra. “You are a pervert. How can you say your brother is a pervert because you think he wants to see naked girls on the internet when you are doing the same thing. You actually do look at naked boys on the internet. By what you said, that makes you a pervert too!” Sandra said. “Girls are not perverts. My mom told me it was natural for girls to be curious.” said Amanda. “I know, during 'the talk'! Doesn't change the facts. Your a pervert.”

“So are you!” Amanda almost yelled to her. Amanda continued, “I have got to figure out a way to see some boys from school naked. If I have to, I'll hide in the locker room or something. Something!” “Now you really do sound like a pervert. You would freak if you knew a boy saw you in the locker room, you know it.” Sandra replied. “Of course! We're girls. Boys aren't supposed to see us naked. Just look at the TV shows. It's not girls they always have losing their clothes or something and running around naked. It's boys. But they never show the good stuff. We have to go to porn sites for that. It's just not the same. I really want to see something happen like that stuff we saw where a group of boys were naked in front of a group of girls” Amanda was almost pouting and then smiling.

“Maybe we could find a way to hide a camera or something.” said Sandra. “No, I wanna be there to see it, in person. I wanna touch it. See if its really hard and soft at the same time, if it feels hotter than the rest of their body. Watch it go from soft to hard and back to soft again. Later that week at school, the girls were in Chemistry Class. They went to a small private school and most of the kids in their grade were in many of the same classes together. Amanda's lab partner was Mark Campbell. In any class that required students to work together, their teacher assigned partners based on her perception of the students' ability to understand the lessons. She paired Amanda and Mark because Mark was very sharp. He was always ready with a solution to problems brought up in class. He seamed to have a focus that kept him on track. Amanda on the other hand, while intelligent, was unable to focus. She did not apply herself hardly at all. Ever since they had sex education as a freshman, Amanda had not been as attentive in class, her grades slipped, and her attention span was that of a fly. The teacher was hoping Mark's attributes would help get Amanda back on track and keep her there.

As they prepared for the upcoming experiment the next day, the teacher interrupted them. “Class, all eyes on me.” She waited for everyone to be quiet and staring at her. “Today we will discuss what will happen tomorrow. This experiment is the riskiest one we have done or will do all year. We will be using concentrated sulfuric acid. It is serious stuff. It is recommended to dilute it a lot. I have chosen to dilute it a little, but only because I want you to see the intended reactions and results. The more you dilute it, the less the reaction. So, a little about our situation so you understand the need for paying attention and following directions to the smallest detail.”

“Our first experiment will be to mix table sugar with the sulfuric acid to show its dehydration properties and changes in the remaining mixture. If done correctly, you will start with sugary water and mix in the sulfuric acid, ending up with a hot, foamy black column of carbon and you can smell the burnt sugar. You will only use a portion of the acid, saving at least 2/3rds of it for our other 2 experiments.”

“Now, a bit about the acid. Concentrated sulfuric acid is highly corrosive. It can cause severe burns and it will ruin and burn through most cloths, but the worst part is that it can burn and blister your skin. The longer the exposure to the skin, the worse the burn. In most cases, this contact usually requires a visit to the emergency room and treatment for severe burns. The acid pulls the water out of the skin or tissue, and can cause deep injuries. When you add water to dilute and render the acid harmless, it releases heat so it can cause thermal burns in addition to chemical burns. That is why it is necessary to continue washing the burn area for what will seem like a long time.”

“Now, I don't expect us to have any accidents, but you need to be prepared just in case. This is serious, so pay close attention. The risk of an accident is serious but low as long as we are attentive and intentional. If the chemical comes in contact with you or your clothes, you need to do the following things in as close to this order as you can remember. I have also made a copy of this list and taped it to the left side of each of your lab table tops. I want you to follow along on your list as I go through them.

“First, yell for help. Start making your way to the safety wash basin. As you are moving that way, start removing the clothing that got contaminated. The longer the clothes hold the chemical to your skin, the worse the chances of burns are. The people around a person who yells for help will either get out of the way or help them remove the affected clothing. If they get a spill on their arm but not their shirt, just run and put your arm in the wash. Pull the chain and hold the water on until I say to stop. If the acid gets on the shirt, remove it on the way to the basin or while standing in it with the water running over you. Again, stay in the basin with the water running until I say to stop. Probably going to run the water on you for like, 10 minutes. If the acid gets on the pants, yes, you will need to remove them. Once in the basin, others can help remove your shoes and socks so you can get the pants off.”

One of the students, Bruce, asked about underwear. There were some giggles, mostly the girls. “OK, class, quiet down. Let me ask you a question Bruce. If some acid spilled on your crotch and there was a real expectation that you were going to burn your penis...” As you would expect, there was a roar of laughter and buzz. “Quiet down. I know you kids find this funny and scintillating, but this is also serious. So Bruce, if you had a chance of not having your penis burnt off but you would have to remove your underwear, what would you do?” She paused for an answer. Bruce hesitated then answered. “I guess I wouldn't want it to be burnt off” he said meekly, embarrassed. A few of the girls giggled. “Exactly Bruce. And Carla, that goes for burning your vagina as well.” That shut the girls up and caused the boys to grin. “We will act in the persons best interest and deal with the consequences after they are safe.”

“Now, no matter what happens and no matter how small the affected area, the student will go to the school nurse or to an ambulance depending on the severity, or both. I will assign a student to escort them to help them as needed. There will probably be chaos and confusion if there is an incident, so if you are not involved, step to the back of the room and try to remain silent and calm.” She paused for a moment. “Now, we use other chemicals that require the same amount of respect and caution. For example, we have Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, and Sodium Hydroxide. Now Sodium Hydroxide is a base not an acid, but it can be just as corrosive. Of all of these, Concentrated Sulfuric Acid is considered the most dangerous in terms of rapid removal of clothing.”

The teacher moved on to cover the rest of the experiment and what to do when they are done with the 3 experiments. “Now, I think we have covered the sulfuric acid. As you complete each experiment, you will move your beaker of acid to the hood while still wearing your gloves. Your beakers should have you and your lab partner's names on them.” When we come in tomorrow, wait until I instruct you to retrieve your beaker of acid. You will form a line and retrieve the acid in an orderly fashion. No rushing or horsing around. Understood?” She looked at each pair of students and waited for a reply. Everyone affirmed her orders. She told the students to look over the list on their table and review the steps for your experiment until the bell sounded.

Class was dismissed. The students gathered their books and left. As Sandra passed Amanda, hurrying to her locker, Amanda spoke up, “My house, half an hour?” Sandra agreed. Both girls left. Sandra was rushing to see her boyfriend before he went to football practice. Amanda was headed to her car.
